Dividing irises
Large clumps of bearded and rhizome iris can be lifted and divided now. Ift the clump and cut off small, healthy, young pieces that each have; eaves attached. Pull off dead foliage, then use a knife to reduce the long leaves by half. Replant the small pieces 6in (15cm) apart in a sunny spot.
