At The Orchard, sustainability is rooted in everything we do, from how we care for our land to the way we serve our customers. With a deep appreciation for nature, community and heritage, we’re committed to making responsible choices that reduce our environmental impact and support a greener future for all.

Our Commitments

1. Reducing Waste
We’re taking active steps to minimise waste across our business:

• Reusing packaging materials from supplier deliveries to ship online orders.
• Offering e-receipts at checkout to reduce unnecessary printing.
• Phasing out printed materials in favour of digital formats wherever possible.
• Encouraging customers to bring their own bags and reuse Orchard shopping bags.
• Composting organic waste from the Eden Café.

2. Responsible Sourcing
We choose to work with suppliers who share our values:

• Prioritising local and Irish suppliers across all product categories.
• Selecting sustainable and ethical brands where possible.
• Supporting Irish producers and food brands in our Eden Café to reduce food miles and champion local.

3. Eco-Friendly Operations
We’re implementing practical, planet-friendly initiatives in-store and behind the scenes:

• Providing recycling and composting stations for staff and customers.
• Reducing single-use plastics in packaging and products.
• Encouraging greener gardening practices with our product choices and expert advice.

4. Sustainable Water Use
We’re proud to harvest rainwater and draw water from an onsite stream to use in our garden centre, reducing our reliance on mains water and making use of natural resources in a responsible way.

5. Continuous Improvement
Sustainability is an evolving journey. We are committed to:
